Caravan & Motorhome Transport Australia
Interstate transport for caravans, camper trailers, motorhomes and campervans — towed or carried, depot-to-depot or door-to-door, fully insured in transit.
Interstate caravan transport, handled by people who move vans for a living
Whether you have bought a van interstate, are relocating, or want your caravan waiting at the start of the trip instead of towing it there yourself, Auto Mover Australia can move it for you. We move caravans, camper trailers, motorhomes and campervans between every major Australian city, and we have helped 10,000+ happy customers relocate their vehicles.
A caravan or camper trailer is usually towed rather than carried, so its roadworthiness is the first question. Tyres, bearings, brakes and coupling all need to be sound for a long interstate tow — vans that have been parked for a season are the ones that cause trouble, because tyres perish and bearings dry out while standing still. Anything that is not fit to tow can be carried instead.
Every van is different, so caravans are quoted individually by our office rather than priced instantly online. Tell us what it is, where it is and where it is going, plus its length, width, height and weight if you know them, and we will come back to you with a quote.

What we move
Caravans
Caravans of all sizes and weights — single and tandem axle, on-road and off-road vans. Roadworthy vans are towed by experienced relocation drivers.
Pop-tops and camper trailers
Pop-top caravans and camper trailers, with the roof retracted and locked and the awning wound in for travel.
Motorhomes and campervans
Moved on our fleet of vehicle carriers, with the right equipment matched to the unit's height, length and weight.
Registered or unregistered
Registered or unregistered, running or not. If a van is not fit to tow, or a motorhome cannot be driven onto a trailer under its own power, tell us when you quote — it changes the equipment we send.

How caravan transport works
- 1
Request a quote
Tell us the pickup and delivery suburbs, what the unit is (make, model and year if known), its length, width, height and weight (ATM or tare), whether it is registered, and whether it can be towed or driven. Unknown measurements are fine — our office prepares the quote.
- 2
Book your transport
Accept the quote and we confirm your booking with a delivery window. Choose depot-to-depot, door-to-door, or a mix of the two.
- 3
Collection or depot drop-off
We collect from your address where truck access allows, or you drop the van at our depot at an agreed time. We check tyres, coupling and lights before it leaves and record its condition on a report.
- 4
Interstate transport
Roadworthy vans are towed at legal speeds by drivers who move vans for a living; anything else travels on suitable equipment. You get SMS and email updates as it travels.
- 5
Delivery and sign-off
Delivered to your address or collected from our depot, and checked against the same condition report before you sign.
Size & weight
Size and weight decide the equipment we send, so we confirm them with you before the booking is made — not on the day of collection.
Tare and ATM
Give us the tare (empty) weight and the ATM from the compliance plate or registration papers. A loaded van weighs more than its tare, so tell us if anything heavy is staying inside.
Length and height
Overall length including the drawbar, and overall height including air conditioners, aerials, solar panels and roof racks. Height matters most for any unit carried on a truck.
Wide and oversize units
Wide bodies, slide-outs and oversize units can need different equipment or a different route. Tell us the width with any slide-outs retracted and we will confirm how it can travel.
Fifth-wheelers
A fifth-wheeler couples differently from a standard caravan. Tell us it is a fifth-wheeler and send its dimensions, and we will confirm whether and how we can move it before you book.
Not sure of the exact figures? Send what you have, with a photo of the compliance plate, and our office will confirm the details before you book.
Insurance and condition inspection
Condition report with photos
Your van's condition is recorded on a report with photos at pickup, and checked against the same report at delivery before you sign.
Fully insured in transit
Every unit we move is covered by our carrier's transit insurance from pickup to delivery. The cover is for the van itself, not loose contents.
GPS-tracked fleet
Our trucks are GPS-tracked, and you get SMS and email updates as your van travels.
Depot-to-depot or door-to-door
Depot-to-depot
You drop the van at our depot and collect it from the depot at the other end. It is the most cost-effective option because it keeps the truck on main routes. Drop-off and collection are by arrangement, so confirm a time when you book rather than arriving unannounced.
Door-to-door
We collect from your address and deliver to the destination address where truck access allows — the most convenient option. Door one end and depot the other is a sensible middle ground.
Find your nearest depot on our depot locations page. Office hours are Mon–Fri 8:00am–4:00pm and Sat 8:00am–10:30am.
Preparing your caravan for transport
A few minutes of preparation prevents most of the problems we see. Run through this checklist before collection:
- Empty fresh and grey water tanks — water is heavy and it moves.
- Latch or tape every cupboard, drawer and internal door, and empty overhead lockers.
- Wind in and secure the awning; retract and lock the roof on a pop-top.
- Turn off and disconnect gas bottles, and secure them in their holder.
- Check tyre pressures and tread including the spare, and have bearings serviced if the van has been standing.
- Remove valuables and anything not fixed down — transit insurance covers the van, not loose contents.
- Motorhomes: note the true overall height including air conditioners, aerials and roof racks, and leave roughly a quarter tank of fuel.
- Have keys available at both ends, or arrange with us in advance if that is not possible.

Popular caravan routes
Caravans are quoted individually, so these routes show typical transit times rather than a price.

Caravan transport FAQs
Is my caravan towed or carried?
Roadworthy caravans and camper trailers are usually towed by experienced relocation drivers. A van that is not fit for a long interstate tow can be carried on suitable equipment instead — tell us its condition and dimensions when you request a quote. Motorhomes and campervans travel on our vehicle carriers.
How much does caravan transport cost?
There is no single from-price for caravans, because every van is quoted individually on its size, weight, condition and route, and on whether you choose depot-to-depot or door-to-door. Our office prepares the quote — start one online, call 1300 599 515, or email the details and photos to office@automovers.au.
Can I leave belongings inside the caravan?
Remove valuables and anything not fixed down. Carrier's transit insurance covers the caravan itself, not loose contents, and a van that is not packed for travel arrives with cupboard contents on the floor. Latch every cupboard and drawer and empty the overhead lockers before collection.
What do I do with the gas bottles?
Turn off and disconnect the gas bottles and secure them in their holder before the van is collected. Empty the fresh and grey water tanks at the same time.
Is my caravan insured during transport?
Yes. Every unit we move is covered by our carrier's transit insurance from pickup to delivery. The van's condition is recorded on a report at collection and checked against the same report on delivery.
Can you move an unregistered or non-towable caravan or motorhome?
Yes — registered or unregistered, running or not. Tell us when you request the quote: a unit that cannot be towed or driven onto a trailer needs different equipment, and knowing in advance is what stops a wasted trip at the kerb.
How long does interstate caravan transport take?
Transit times vary by route. Most east-coast routes between Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne take 3–8 business days, and Perth to or from the east coast takes 10–18 business days. Oversize units can sit outside the usual window because they travel on routes that can legally carry them — you get a delivery window when the booking is confirmed.
